Lake Chapala is situated at an altitude of 1,525 meters, in the southwest of the Sierra Madre Mountains, and is the largest natural lake in Mexico. The Lakeside area has the biggest expat community in Mexico, and has thousands of Canadians and Americans who are either retired here full time or half of the year. This picture set was taken in May of 2011, which is one of the warmest times of the year. We received so many emails asking for more photos of Chapala, that we decided to take a whole afternoon snapping shots of the town.
