Running is a big thing in the Lakeside area, there are several running clubs in Ajijic and Chapala, with many participants. Once you become a local you will see that many people run along the “Ciclopista” (bicycle lane that runs along the main highway) between 6 and 8 pm, which is when the heat is not as strong, allowing runners to take their daily jog, some run from Ajijic to Chapala and back. Over the past few years several marathons have been organized by the local running clubs, this one in particular is the “Campanario Copa Chino” marathon and was organized by the “Club Salvajes Ajijic“.
