Carnaval event in Chapala

The Chapala carnaval which is celebrated every February is the largest event in the Lakeside area next to the Ajijic Fiestas celebration in November. It kicks off every year with a parade that is old on the main avenue in Chapala, (Madero Avenue), it is a Mardi Gra style parade that includes dancing, music, decorated floats and even horses. The Carnaval is held at the Chirstinia Park which is located just north of the Chapala Malecon and lasts over a week.

There are all types of shows, activities, food stands and concerts that take place during this event. Kids can enjoy mechanical games, paint ball activities, kid shows and the most popular pony rides. Adults usually attend the local ¨Terrazas¨, which means terraces. These ¨Terrazas¨are covered setting areas where adults can enjoy drinks, music and food. There is usually a concert every night and the final day of the Carnival is the biggest concert, since the organizers try to bring a famous Band or solo artist to preform. You can read more about this event on our blog, where we have taken several pictures and written articles on the Chapala Carnaval, check it out and don’t miss this event.
